Tips To Reduce Baby Fever Naturally


In these pandemic conditions, it is very much important that you stay safe and keep your babies safe as well from any kind of virus or infection. Since the hospitals and clinics are flooded with patients who might be COVID-19 positive as well, we all fear heading towards the hospitals or clinics especially with our kids. 

Let’s keep in mind some of the hacks that will keep our babies safe from fever naturally.

Sponge Bath

A warm bath or sponge bath can be very soothing during fever. Warm bath regulates body temperature as water brings the temperature down.  You must avoid shower or bath in cold water as cold water can trigger shivering and rises body temperature.

Use Fans Sensibly

Keep your child in a well-ventilated and airy room and keep the fan circulated around the child. Make sure the fan speed is slow and the room temperature is normal so that the baby does not feel cold.

Feed Baby Regularly

During fever, babies require different types of nutrients and vitamins such as A, B, C, Calcium, Iron and Sodium. High calorie, high protein, high fluid and low fat diet are preferred.  Chicken soup with vegetables and bone broth is best for kids.  Bone broth helps generate white blood cell and defend body against infections. Feed baby after every two hours and make light food for them such as cereal, baked fish, boiled eggs, custard or dry fruits. For infants, mashed potatoes and bananas are perfect.

Keep Your Child Hydrated

Apart from solid food, liquid intake is also very important for babies. Juices or water including coconut water, milk, glucose water and fruit juices are best to boost the baby’s health and energy level. Babies who are on breastfeedingmust be fed every 10 minutes. 

Choose Light Clothing

Kids should be dressed in light clothes during fever to help them ease the loss of body heat. Layers of clothing intensify the fever by trapping body heat. If the baby is shivering use a blanket.

Stay Indoors

During fever don’t expose your child directly to the sunlight. Keep them in a cool and covered place especially during day time. Also exposure to public places weakens the body and makes it vulnerable to infections.

Rest and Sleep

Plenty of rest and sleep can help the baby heal quickly. The healing process works faster when baby is at rest and is not involved in any activities. Watch videos or read stories to them to keep them relaxed and on the bed. The lesser the movement the better the body will respond to the illness.
