Top Ways for Dads To Bond With Babies


When your little one arrives, it is usually and initially the mom who bonds with the new baby. According to science, a strong connection between a mother and a child boasts many benefits like increased immunity.

 What about dads? Even though, there is less emphasis on the bond in the initial days of your little one, doesn’t mean you are not important. There are ways with which dads can connect and bond with their little one from day one. Here are some easy and simple activities dads must try:

5 S’s:

By learning the 5S’s- key to calm the baby and master in soothing your baby. Sometimes babies need the entire 5 S’s to be calmed down and that are swaddling, side or stomach position, shushing, swinging and sucking. Being a new dad, it might be hard for you to calm down the baby but this will give new mom a much needed break too. Dads can be the best baby calmers.

Skin to Skin Contact:

Skin to skin contact is an important part for bonding between a mother and a baby as it prompts the body to release hormones which reduce stress.  Same thing happens when dads develop a skin to skin contact with their little ones. This is the best way to enhance a dad’s bond and it even results in less crying.

Massage:

Babies love massage.  Always give your babies massage after a bath or before bedtime. Learn how to give bath to your babies safely.

Go for a Walk:

Hit the road with your baby. If you have the baby carrier then they will enjoy the sounds and sights being close to you. Also, mothers can enjoy the extra time to themselves.

Diaper Dad:

Since mommies are breastfeeding, why don’t you step in and take the domain of diaper change. If you think that it isn’t a bonding tip then you are mistaken.  You can play during the diaper changing time with your little one such as peek –a-boo, tickle or sing to them as you clean and change them.

Hang Out:

Place the bay on your lap and just play with him, look into his eyes, tickle them and just let them giggle and coo. This time is very precious. Before you know it, they will be enjoying and talking to you in their baby language.

These small activities simply take few minutes but will make the bond that will make long lasting memories.
