Setting Baby Schedules

When a new baby is born, he calls the shots when it comes to sleeping and eating. This means that the days and nights are going to get disturbed and the patterns won’t be clear.

Our baby used to have a pattern when they were inside your womb but that pattern gets disturbed with labor and delivery. Now babies stay on alert for an hour or so and then they settle for deep sleep or grogginess for the next 12 or 24 hours.

You got to respect baby’s new routines and patterns which can help them soothe and establish a regular routine.  Feed your baby after every 2-3 hours and whenever the baby is awake and alert try to make as much as eye contact with them and also soothe them through cuddles. During night time, keep your voices lower.

Factors such as hunger and sleeplessness may drive the baby rhythms of infants under the age of 3 months. Whereas, infants above the age of 3 months are affected by external and environmental factors. For baby sleep schedules, there is no such thing as normal in the first year. According to the stats, 30% of the babies do not sleep throughout the night for 9 months. Make sure your baby is waking up playful and happy which means that they are getting proper and enough sleep.

Regardless of baby tendencies, there many things that you can help encourage your baby to sleep for longer hours. Make sure you keep the day time naps shorter for about 1-2 hours. Give him meals, walks to the park and soothing baby baths for a consistent schedule.

Sooner or later, your baby will settle into a fairly predictable schedule but don’t get happy because babies are always unpredictable. Babies might keep a regular routine but then suddenly they might have irregular routines during the growth sprut
